In der vorliegenden Arbeit werde ich ausschließlich den Aspekt der Personalführung herausgreifen, zu dem ein weites Feld von Aufgaben wie z.B. Führung von Mitarbeitergesprächen, Personalauswahl, Personalentwicklung, Personalbeurteilung und Ausbildung von Auszubildenden gehört, und wie in allen relativ kleinen Organisationen liegen diese Aufgaben, auch in Kindertagesstätten (Kitas) in der Hand der Leitung.
Meine those in dieser Arbeit ist, dass Personalführung in denjenigen Kitas besser funktioniert, in denen die Leiterin nicht in die pädagogische Arbeit involviert ist, sondern „nur“ mit Leitungsaufgaben befasst ist. Wenn es nämlich der Fall ist, dass die Kita-Leiterin in einer Kindergruppe mitarbeitet, befindet sie sich in einer ähnlichen state of affairs wie Schulleiterinnen: „Schulleiter/innen ihrerseits sind für die Lehrer/innen nicht nur Vorgesetzte, sondern immer auch Kolleg/inn/en, und daraus resultieren oft für beide Seiten gravierende Spannungen“ (Ulich 1996, S. 179). Allerdings hinkt dieser Vergleich insofern, als in einer Kita, in der die Leiterin in einer Gruppe mitarbeitet, sie sowohl Vorgesetzte als auch Kollegin von allen Kolleginnen ist, aber auch noch zusätzlich Kollegin von jemandem ist, der in der selben Gruppe arbeitet. Dieser Aspekt könnte meiner Meinung nach eine nicht unbedeutende Rolle spielen.
