The natural world is a great source of perspective and inspiration for me, and I wanted to share this very interesting study with you. A new study has proven that exposure to nature and outdoor settings, brings out the best in human behavior. This study validates my belief that humans are designed to be connected to something much bigger then ourselves. So, use screen savers or indoor plants to bring natural elements into the work place. Every so often take your meeting outside. If the meeting is just between two people try an outdoor “walking meeting”.

This Vlog is pretty personal to me, as it involves my 22-month-old-son Cooper, and my wife Kristy’s quest to teach him to swim. I taught our first two kids, Kasey and Chase, how to swim at the Y. Back then I had a lot of time and I was able to go with them consistently. Kristy wanted to sign Cooper up for this class called “Safe Start.” At first I was very hesitate- for starters the class cost like 600 bucks, and then I remembered all the crying babies in the pool when I was teaching our first two how to swim. I didn’t want Cooper to go through that. Eventually I relented. I was so amazed at how his instructor was able to take my screaming child and over a 6 week period was able to make a calm relaxed floater out of him. There are over 1.1 million swimming pools, 6000 lakes and over 1200 miles of coastline in Florida, so if you live in here and you have small children, I strongly recommend this program.

So, I hopped on my facebook the other day with the intention of updating my status and I had a friend request…. Don’t lie, you get excited about them! I clicked on it and to my surprise, it was guess who….drum roll please. MY MOTHER….oh yes.

Now the question comes to mind, do I click yes or no? Or do I ignore it and pretend like I don’t check my updates. I clicked yes… Now, Not only does she now have access to every picture of me taken throughout my college career, but to ex-boyfriends, and status updates. What used to be a place of refuge to vent to friends about anything and everything has become a microscopic lens with which my family can view my most personal information.

Lucky for me, my mom isn’t the type to pry, or really check out what’s going on because she isn’t completely aware of how to use it. That is until she discovered Farmville….

Farmville is a revolutionary application with which you create your own far and interact with neighbors and such. After her initial discovery, she informed me that she would start my farm if I would let her. Now, she has ALL my login information. Everyday, when I login, I am greeted by a wealth of Farmville updates, text messages from my mom telling me to that she’s “logging on to check my farm.”

My question is, where do we draw the line? Have I let it go too far by letting my mom start a farm? Or do I let her enjoy my facebook, after all, it’s harmless right?
